I have just taken to reading some extracts from Samuel Pepys' diaries.

And much full of wonderfulment they are, being of the best English writings and observances I ever did set my eyes upon. The most amusing being his account of the King's dog as they set sail for England from France. I never in my life did hear expletive in such an context and it both shocked and amused me most thoroughly.
