Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary
Those of us who live in England know that moderation is the name of the game when it comes to the weather. What I'm saying is that generally we don't get interesting weather; we just get a lot of it. So when a tornado comes along on a bank holiday it's something one finds very interesting indeed. In the interests of journalistic integrity, keeping things remotely interesting and because I can, I have prevailed upon a close relative who lives not terribly far away from Hoghton (she is, in fact, in Preston) to give me her views.
Apparently, "There was a bit of rain and clouds! I didn't even know there was a tornado! Is all a bit over the top! If there was a tornado- no-one knew!"
Perhaps someone at the University of Central Lancashire could teach their law students about the excessive use of exclamation marks.
