Literatea's Rundown and wholly personal, biased views of the 2004 Brit Awards and Results, where The Darkness totally ran away with, stole and generally added a bit of glam and Lowestoft Sequins to the Show. But enough introduction! To the Biased Opinions, Reviews and Awards...
The Acts
Beyonce- fabulous, of course. This girl has got it. Oh, and Great Outfits. Nice to see girls looking feminine.
50 cent- the opening was ostentatious and far too MTV-nnoying. The performance, however was pretty good and certainly made up for it.
I'm in LOVE. Move aside Ben Castle...Jamie Callum is dangerously close to taking over my affections...as he probably has in every other girl's heart after tonight's performance. What a live wire!
Muse Who, in Literatea's opinion should have won Rock Act. Let's hope their performance has helped spread the Good Word. Mm...sharp suits boys. Nice!
Empress Missy, Queen Stefani and Princess Alicia sing Kiss. Fabulous styling. Fabulous. And a little bit of funk goes a long way, especially augmented by a sharp piece of Missy-Style Rapping.
Duran Duran Well the purists may disagree here, but frankly I'm just too young to remember their older stuff in a personal and sentimental way- so when they played Ordinary World I was very happy indeed. One of the first grown-up songs I loved as a young person searching the Wastes of Pop for my Own Style.
The Darkness I like to think that I helped the Darkness to get where they are today by spreading the word and buying the album before the likes of Radio One and C*pital got hold of them. Sorry.
Miscellaneous and wholly Biased Opinions
Lemar: what's up with his possey standing behind him? Like, step AWAY from the stage, guys. It's his award. Nice feller.
Puh-lease. Don't make me cry. British single? What was up with the nominations? This is just the sort of behaviour that makes people think that it's all a set up by the cynical record companies.
Lionel Richie presented the Best International Group. How cool? Ice Cold!
Alicia Keyes- this gal got S-T-Y-L-E. She walked on stage to present an award and totally drew the crowd in- talk about oozing star quality.
Busted may actually come to their senses one of these fine days and graduate into a Decent Rock Act, having seen their rendition of Teenage Kicks. Kickin'.
And the Brit Award for the Best....
