a triple challenge

Tonight I was able to add another 20 minutes of driving experience to my log book. There were three major challenges.

1. I was driving my father's car for the first time (a Mitsubishi Magna - quite a lot bigger than the Ford Festiva I have been driving for the last week)

2. It was dark. I've never driven in the dark before. Mum said "now in Dad's car you have to remember the headlights are on the opposite side to in my car". I replied "that's ok! I don't know where the headlights are in your car anyway!".

3. My mother was supervising for the first time. She is a bit more highly strung than my brother. On the way back from the station we had my father too, who is a moderating influence. But still. "Now yay, this is a Give Way sign"... "yes Mum, I do know that the intersection at the top of my street, which I have now been travelling through every day for the last 23.5 years has a Give Way sign at the top of it. I also know what to do at a Give Way sign"

Oh yes, AND I had to reverse down the driveway, in the dark in a big car with power steering (the Festiva doesn't have power steering). Still no casualties though.
