Just popped up to the supermarket on a late night (well late for me) dessert mission. I was wanting to buy a tin of condensed milk to eat but then my cholesterol conscience kicked in and told me that I shouldn't. Also I knew that if I bought a tube, my mother would be involved in clandestine tube sucking and that's gross. So I bought a shaker bottle of pancake mix. Defiance buttermilk pancakes to be precise.
On the way home, the intersection failed to recognise my existence. After three cycles of traffice lights I gave up and turned left from the right lane. Obviously there was not much traffic.
So the pancakes. They turned out very well. Quick and easy to make and they didn't taste much like packet pancakes. So I was pleased.
The only downer was that I noticed my electric frypan is getting frail. It still has a lovely cooking surface but it's just not heating up much anymore. I used to cook pancakes on about 5-6. Now 10 is only just enough. This is sad. The frypan and I have gone through many trials together. Like the 5 or so years when we only had one hotplate and no oven. It has served us well.
