I have just been for a trip to the hardware to buy some potting mix for my strawberry plant. While I was there I made some other purchases:

1. Cress seeds. I have always wondered what cress tastes like. It seems it is only available here if you grow it yourself.
2. Mustard seeds. To go with the cress.
3. Brussels sprouts seeds. A present for my mother. She likes brussels sprouts.
4. A spray bottle. So that i don't destroy my seedlings when I water them.
5. Some stuff that goes in the soil to hold water so that when I forget to water my plants for three weeks they won't die. It also has some sort of fertilizer in it.

If my brussels sprouts survive to seedlinghood, I am going to have to dig up some lawn so they can be planted in the ground... I wasn't intending to go beyond pots but that's ok. We'll wait and see what happens. They may all die in childhood.

Oh yes, my silverbeet still seems to be alive and I think my strawberry plant has grown!!

AND for those who were wondering, silverbeet is a green leafy vegetable. Often called spinach but it isn't. It's darker and shinier and has enormous leaves. A good source of folate :)
