We have a tree in the front yard. It is quite large. And sort of slanty. Its trunk is sort of pushing against the power lines. But we have been pretending not to notice that for a while. The other day a sizeable branch fell off this tree but didn't reach the ground... it's sort of suspended within the rest of the tree. This is Dangerous. So today the tree surgeon came around and he wrote a prescription that said "this tree is extremely dangerous and I am referring you to the council to apply for approval to remove it and I am also referring you to my friend with the enormous crane who will have to come and remove it piece by piece while the street is closed and the phone lines (or power lines? can't remember which... perhaps both!) are disconnected. I recommend that this tree be removed in the next two weeks because it could fall over at any time and now that I have warned you about it you won't be able to claim any damages on insurance. And by the way, removal of the tree will cost A Lot. Yours sincerely, the tree surgeon".
How exciting! I hope I'll be here the day the crane comes and the street is closed and everyone is inconvenienced thanks to our tree!!! Luckily our street is not a main road and is not required in navigating around the suburb. I will have to take photos and wiblog the entire event!
