So today the mother was making hot cross buns for the first time. And she needed somewhere warm to prove the dough. Or whatever it's called. I scratched my head. And then I realised that my car had been sitting in the sun all afternoon and was probably toasty warm!!

The first stage you have to put the milk and yeast in the warm spot and I didn't want milk and yeast in my car so we did that step in Mum's car. Then when it had been made into dough we put it in my car (which was in a better location) for the rest of its rising. There was a third period of rising but unfortunately the sun had gone down so I put the buns on top of the microwave (which is on top of the oven), turned on the oven to preheat and then put a jug of water in the microwave and cooked it. This created a nice warm zone on top of the microwave as heat came up from both the microwave vents and the oven.

This will go in chapter three of my cookbook.

Chapter 1. Blowtorch cookery.
Chapter 2. How to represent sporting events using cake.
Chapter 3. Helpful hints and tips. Including how to make dough rise and why not to make pavlova rolls.

I think it has promise! Just need a few more chapters. But they will come to me eventually I'm sure.
