Why not give out merit points for good driving, not just demerit points for naughty driving. For instance when I avoided being pulverised by the semitrailer which was driving on the wrong side of the road the other day, I think I should have been awarded some merit points. And possibly a gold star too. And when I stick to the speed limit despite peer pressure! The system encourages mediocrity, not excellence!
