Today in our study group we decided to get started on anatomy. And where better to start than the hand. Luckily I'd brought my 36 Faber Castells. So we spent a lovely few hours tracing around our hands and drawing bones and arteries and veins and the carpal tunnel (ohhhh it's called the carpal tunnel because it's surrounded by the carpal bones!! Wow. Dawning moment while wiblogging). We also got hold of some arm/hand bones (the medical library has a bits of people department where you can get such things) and looked at them, laughed about the pisiform bone and committed to memory a mnemonic for remembering the names and order of the carpal bones - Some Lovers Try Positions That They Can't Handle - scaphoid, lunate, triquetal, pisiform (which is sort of on top of the pisiform... depending which way you look at it), trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, hamate. They're in two rows with Some Lovers Try Positions are next to the arm bones and That They Can't Handle are where the metacarpals join.
There were some other study groups in the library but they didn't seem to be having much fun. They didn't have 36 coloured pencils for a start.
