As noted by Jan in the comments section a few posts down, my area is having a series of rolling blackouts for the next few weeks. Conveniently timed to coincide with dinner time. Luckily, for the moment I seem to be ok. The streets mentioned on the Energy Australia website are all on the other side of the highway. Fingers crossed!
In other news, I have almost finished drying my washing by draping it around the living room with the heater on. Which is probably not helping the Energy Australia issue but I'd already put the washing machine on (more electricity) before I read their website. And, I might say, I only found out about the power outages through a British based Christian website bulletin board. Well except for the one last night. I found out about that because the lights went out.
