on to the cardboard bits

Here are some things you can use the cardboard bits inside toilet rolls for:

1. Components in DIY periscopes
2. As a french knitting "nancy"
3. A simple musical instrument
4. Or use many to build a complicated musical instrument
5. Storage for small things (fold the ends over. If you fold the ends at 90 degrees to each other you get a rather decorative shape!!)
6. Building material
7. Protecting the ends of spears or other sharp objects
8. Use them to make a cryptograph. For this you would need two rolls, with one slightly smaller (or just a bit squished) with lots of numbers or letters on it, and the outer one with holes in it at various locations. When you turn the outer roll, you can change the number/letter appearing at each hole. The receiver of your coded messages needs one too, and you need to arrange which position the outer roll will be in on each occasion.
9. As a component in a homemade torch. Or flashlight as the Americans like to call them.
10. Art and craft supplies.
11. A tuille shaping mold.
12. To protect ropes from being destroyed on abrasive edges (eg. cliffs)
13. Cookie cutter (limited shapes available)
14. As a calculator (see cryptograph... I'm sure it can be done but you may need to cut the outer roll into shorer sections)
15. Ventilation holes in the bunker
16. Pouring aid (like a funnel but not quite one... probably once only use)
17. Seedling protector
18. vision enhancer (look through one - your long distance vision will improve a bit!!)
19. Jewellery
20. As a template for drawing circles.
21. A circle shaped stamp
22. Really big drinking straw
23. Spoon (for the deluxe model, cut out a section at one end to make it like a scoop)
24. Ice cream 'cone' (fold up one end. place ice cream in the other. I do not recommend you eat this cone)
25. Splint
26. To repair holey shoe soles
27. For perfuming drawers
28. Wheels/smoke stack for toys
29. Currency. In the new world, dollars and cents will be meaningless. Those with the most toilet paper will be the truly rich.
30. Spool for string/yarn
31. Napkin rings
32. Writing material
33. Temporary gas piping (not recommended for water unless VERY temporary)
34. Light concentrating device (I'm envisaging it attached to the end of a torch, maybe lined with foil...
