always carry a notebook

I have lots of ideas. You never know when an idea is going to hit. So at beach mission, I got into the habit of always carrying a small notebook with me to write my ideas in. I found this to be excellent - ideas could be anything from things that I should buy next time I go into town, to what I could study for honours to fleeting thoughts about God stuff and the meaning of life.

So the current big idea is a cookbook. There is one book currently available that addresses cooking for large groups. And it's getting a bit dated. My beach mission is renowned for the quality and variety of food served and there are quite a few current and past cooks to contribute recipes to the book. Today I've been looking into copyright legislation and what sort of hurdles we will face if we wish to use the zucchini slice recipe from a 1970s edition of Women's Weekly or something like that. I don't THINK it will be as difficult as I originally thought. Apparently you cannot copyright a list of ingredients. And descriptions of the method would most likely vary significantly anyway (both to accommodate for the large numbers and because many recipes have been passed on down generations of cooks).

If this happens, it will happen well. I would like this book to appeal to both those who cook for large numbers of people and to those who go to events and wish to replicate what they've eaten while there. I want it to be easy to use, with simple instructions in a consistent format. And nice to look at. The issue of printing/publishing is in the back of my mind however I will think about that more further down the track. Right now I am assessing what we have and what we need and how to not get sued.

The other big idea is that I am going to bed because it's bed time and I have to work tomorrow.
