I am pleased to announce that I avoided going to buy chocolate last night. I did however eat a milo cereal bar, some grapes, and a banana. And some raisin toast. But then who's to say I wouldn't have eaten those things if I bought chocolate as well. And they all have some nutritional value. Except the milo bar. I have to say that "contains energy" is one of the most misleading and evil nutritional claims known to man. Hmmm what sorts of food provide lots of energy? Ooh I know! Fats! And sugars!! So instead of saying 10% Fat Free, we'll say "Source of Energy!". Bah!

Today is free lunch day. Hurrah! Grand Rounds at my hospital happens to coincide with the day I'm there. And the lunch provided is always very good - loads of different sandwiches, enormous fruit platters, juice, tea, coffee.

And tomorrow I have free dinner at a GP/Pharmacist continuing education night. My friend works for the Division of General Practice that is putting it on, and she has invited me, even though I don't work in their division. But I'm still a pharmacist dammit! Because I'm not a member of the Pharmaceutical Society at the moment*, I can't go to their education nights without paying lots. So it's good to go to education things run by people that aren't the Society. And it's in the Eastern Suburbs. Which is even more posh than where I live (nb. I live on the wrong side of the tracks, but in a relatively wealthy area... but it wasn't like that when the parents bought the house). What will I wear?!

* I was a member of the society when I was working full time, but now that I'm a poor student, I can't afford it. And as my mother is a member, I read all of her journals. And I figure that I am spending every day in education so it's probably ok that I'm not going along to a bowling club hall every few months to eat lukewarm pastries and hear a drug company rep give an "unbiased" rundown on some matter of (their) interest.
