slight change of plans for Day 5

Last night I was thinking about texting my boss and asking if he'd like a sleep in today because I could work in the morning. But I didn't get around to it as I was being fed pizza and sticky date pudding and was distracted (as an aside - this was my second ever experience of Dominos pizza - the first time would have been in about 1990 and I didn't like it. Last night it was pretty good!)

So this morning I was lolling around thinking about coagulation and how I didn't want to learn about it when my phone rang and it was another boss asking if I could work a few hours... today. So yes. I am toddling off to other work in the The Land of Angry Rich People in about 20 minutes. I hadn't heard from this boss from a while... thought she'd forgotten about me. But no. All is well with the world. Not that it would be a disaster if she had forgotten about me because I really don't want too many extra shifts, but it's nice to still be in the loop. And not enough in the loop to have to go to work meetings/parties or have official duties. Other than being the pharmacist that is.

Which still leaves coagulation out in the cold a bit. But I do know which coag factors are vitamin K dependent. You remember this because they're the "tv factors" - 2, 7, 9 and 10. Which are the Australian tv channels. Well now there's SBS and ABC2 and that channel 28 that's only available in some places, and the other community channels on digital tv... but 2, 7, 9 and 10 are the biggies.

And I know that von Willebrands factor has two main functions - it stabilises factor 8 and is involved in platelet adhesion :D

I'm not sure what "a few hours" means. If I know pharmacists it could mean "the rest of the day" but I'm hoping that "few" is interpreted to mean "3-4" because that would be fine.

Oh yes, in other news, I made the upside down plum and hazelnut cake for the brother yesterday and I increased the mixture by 25% because the tin was 23cm not 22cm and apparently last time my mother made it there wasn't quite enough mixture. Except I had to increase the eggs by 33% because it is a bit hard to add 3/4 of an egg. But anyway, it seems to have turned out a treat! AND there was enough mixture left over to make a mini version, which I decided to steam instead of baking - it was so cute! I have photos but don't have time to share them right now... It was the first time I'd ever done a steam-cooked pudding-type thing. I discovered that the large steamer basket from the rice cooker fits beautifully in the large saucepan. This is excellent. I think I will be having many more steaming adventures in the future.
