Bacon choc-chip cupcakes are out of the oven and sampled. We just used a regular cupcake recipe and then fried bacon until it was crispy and stirred it into the cake mix at the end with the choc-chips.

Verdict: they aren't terrible. You don't realise how salty bacon is until you put it in a cupcake... it's really very salty!

I probably wouldn't make them for a "bring a plate" event, but they are interesting and won't kill you. Unless you're allergic to eggs or something I guess.

What is definitely good about them is that you can really tell what flavour they are. Cupcake shops are springing up everywhere with lots of fancy names and flavours for their cakes. But you know what? If I had a blindfold on, I couldn't tell the difference between strawberry and chocolate marshmallow.
