So I arrived home on Saturday. On Sunday I opened a new jar of raspberry jam (Rose's brand - my favourite). I can't remember where I put it, but it would either have been in the fridge or the pantry.

Just then, I put two pieces of bread (Burgen, wholemeal and seed) in the toaster and went to the fridge to retrieve my jam. But it was not there! I searched and researched. It was nowhere to be seen. So I searched the pantry - no sign of my jam. My father then joined the hunt and covered the fridge and pantry again. We checked the freezer, the cupboard where the cups and saucers live, the cupboard where the bowls live and a number of other cupboards. NO JAM!

By this time my toast was ready, so I used another spread - I was resigned to not finding the jam until the toast was too cold to be toasty.

While gnawing on my jamless toast, I consulted my mother, who said she put the jam in the pantry today. It is SO not in the pantry. Or if it is, it must be on the top shelf behind the first aid supplies or on the bottom shelf behind the brandy/rum/sherry/butterscotch schnapps collection. Yes, our liquor cabinet is the bottom shelf of the pantry. We have no small children. Pooka hasn't showed an interest in alcohol yet. She's only 2.
