A Donut Review

I have just sampled my first donut from the large American donut chain that has set up shop on the other side of Sydney. Normally I would spell it doughnut but it says donut on the box and I'm sure that the box maker pondered how to spell the word long and hard before omitting the ugh.

From the name on the box, I would assume the product to be both crispy and cremy (not creamy... I think there's a difference). I had always wondered how this textural combination would be achieved. And I think my conclusion is that it isn't. Maybe it's because of the hot weather but this was just a normal donut that was all wet and sticky with a syrupy substance. There was not a whole lot of crispness. And no cremyness to speak of.

So in a way I am disappointed because my expectations were not met. But it was still quite a pleasant dining experience as far as such things go.
