Today was the introductory day for the graduate training course I have to do to get registered. It was a total waste of time - just lots of people from different pharmacy organisations getting up and talking about how good their organisation is and stuff. Which is all very well but we had almost identical lectures last year at uni.
There were jelly beans and doughnuts however. Which almost made it all worthwhile. AND I didn't have to go to work. Making it the lesser of two evils.
But the heat! Oh my goodness! It came in second only to Bangkok (except a lot less smelly). It was like being in an oven once we left the hotel where the conference was. And the train home was not air conditioned and took 75 minutes to get to my stop (I think they go slower in hot weather because all the tracks are melted...). It is so nice to be home.
Ah yes, in other news, I can now safely go to the vestry meeting without fear of ending up on parish council again! I have nominated someone else to be the token young female on council. Although she will be heaps better than me and probably end up being more than a token member.
Tonight is our church's vision night. I'm not too sure what to expect. It's in response to our diocesan vision (which I won't talk about in much depth because people might throw things at me) of growth (in numbers yes, but more importantly in maturity/faith etc). At this stage our church has employed two more people on the rationale that under the current staffing levels, a larger congregation couldn't be sustained. So anyway, I'm not too sure what will be happening tonight but I suppose I will find out soon!
