I am ever so appreciative of weekends now. Even more appreciative of weekends without any occasions requiring getting dressed up, wearing uncomfortable shoes and standing around making small talk all afternoon.
Oh, did I ever tell of my gastronomical adventure last weekend? I don't think I did. WELL, there's a new shop open at my local enormous shopping complex called JapanCrepe. My friend read about it and was excited by the concept of gelato in crepes. So we made a trip there last weekend. I decided on the "Japanese cheesecake strawberry crepe", thinking there would be bits of strawberry and cheesecake all rolled up. Well... sort of.
So the concept - a rather enormous crepe, freshly made. Probably would have been about er... about 10 cm wider than my 15 inch laptop screen. Three enormous squirts of some tinned whipped "cream" product were deposited on - I assume more for structural stability than artistic effect or flavour. Depending on your taste I suppose. The a slice of cheesecake was plonked onto the crepe and a few token strawberries scattered around. This was liberally drizzled with chocolate syrup and rolled up into a cone .
Yes, as you can see in the link (edit: which I will to add to my links list because my html link doesn't appear to be a link... it's just a word... sad) , these are a common Japanese dessert, available in a multitude of flavours. I must say it didn't taste too bad. I would have liked a bit less "cream" however. And I am wondering whether the Japanese trend of crepifying foods is like the American trend of verbifying nouns. Or verbing them as I like to say.
