strangers on the bus

Today I found a lost student at the bus stop. She had caught the wrong bus from uni and after 20 minutes on the bus realised she was somewhat lost and got off. Although come to think of it, it was the right bus, it was just going in the wrong direction (ie. if she'd crossed the road before getting on it would have been fine). We had a nice chat actually - she's only 16 and is at uni. I can't imagine me moving to a different country to start university at 16. It's not like being an exchange student - there are no host parents or teachers to look after you.

It always amazes me when people whose first language is not English can speak it fluently. I can't imagine being fluent in another language. Ah got to love the Australian public school system. But then, when I was in Europe I marvelled over the little kiddies who could speak Dutch, German or French so nicely. Yes yes, I know, I know.
