I have now done the first half of my first aid course. It was not too bad, and good to catch up with my far flung uni friends (one even came up from our Vibrant National Capital to do the course). Our instructor is quite a character. She's about 75-80 years old and has a huge inventory of gruesome and fascinating stories. Very amusing.

So today we did DR ABC, resuscitation, bleeding/wounds, slings, fainting/unconsciousness and asthma/diabetes/angina (as a first aider is not allowed to administer any medications, these were covered quite briefly. As a pharmacist AND a first aider I hope that I am allowed to give out drugs). Tomorrow we have sprains/strains and fractures, bites and stings, more cpr practice and I'm sure some other exciting topics to cover. Then a written and practical exam.
