a depressing trip to the letter box

I just found a letter I should have posted a few weeks ago. As it is a lovely afternoon (can I just say that this winter is a joke! Clear blue skies every day and temperatures well over 20 (C)) I decided to go for a walk to the letter box and post the stupid thing. Then I remembered that I am supposed to get some "proper" exercise (the doctor said walking is good but doesn't count). So decided to jog some of the way. Well I actually had this romantic notion of jogging all the way. However by the top of my street I realised that this wasn't going to happen. I estimate that I jogged approximately 3/16 of the way. Ah well. I suppose that's not too bad for a first attempt. Maybe I'll do better tomorrow. And even that 3/16 of the distance to the letterbox (the exact value of which I will not reveal so as to retain some shreds of dignity. And no it is more than 50m) did get my heart rate up. So maybe it's not as depressing as it could be. I mean, I could have just sat here and emailed a response in the hope that it would be acceptable!
