how to turn around a glum day

I arrived at work in a foul mood this morning. In the interests of retaining my employment and not losing any friends I realised that I had to come up with a way to cheer myself up. I started by removing myself from the shop for 1.5 hours to pack the blister packs for my old people and think about schemes for mood enhancement. Was not having any luck on the thinking front however then the deliveries arrived and I went to investigate. I found that my pneumococcal vaccines (the ones for babies) had arrived! I have a waiting list with many anxious parents on it so this meant I could call people who would be pleased to hear from me.

That took up a good portion of the day. In downtimes I also called some local doctor's surgeries and told them that I have the vaccines too.

Well that sort of helped but it wasn't enough. Then I remembered that I have a $10 voucher for one of my old ladies from the Chemist Club. AND this afternoon I had just sent her a toothbrush that she'd been wanting for years. So I called her to ask her if it was the right one and to tell her about her voucher. Well. She was SO excited about the toothbrush. We chatted about that for quite a while (I was fully conscious that my boss was being abused by an angry customer on the other phone line so thought it best to stay occupied) then I told her about the voucher and her cup overflowed with joy! She was over the moon!

I have a mental list of old people who are nice to call and chat to. They get excited because they're lonely and bored and housebound and I get to feel loved. All for 20c. Bargain.
