a new toy and cake

Yesterday at work we received a phone call from the government criminals who give us money for our prescriptions. There's a problem. Since the pharmacy has changed hands, we now have a new approval number. This number appears on the little stickers that we stick on every script that goes to the government. Now unfortunately the stickers we are using have the old approval number on them. The lovely people are absolutely unable to give us money unless every single script has the correct number on it.

I thought about this for a while. Writing 12554R on 2000 prescriptions did not appeal to me. There must be an easier way. I went down to the newsagent and asked to see his stamp department. There were a few date models but nothing that could do 6 numbers in a row. But suddenly

"Wait! I have the perfect stamp! It comes with all these letters and numbers and you can make it say whatever you like!"

I examined the stamp. It's self inking and has a generous text area. A good selection of letters, numbers and symbols are included. I think the ink pad is refillable. $24.80. I went back to work and put forward my arguments that we should buy the stamp:

1) The time that it will take me to write 12554R on 2000 scripts is worth much more than $24.80
2) I will probably get RSI and require hefty workers comp pay outs.
3) This stamp is versatile. Think of all the uses!
4) It would make me very happy to have the stamp. A happy yay is a productive yay.
5) The sticker situation is not likely to be resolved in the next week. Think of the agony of my whinging about writing 12554R for over a week!

I have my stamp. I was so excited about it I said that I might have to buy one for myself. THEN my boss said "I have a better idea. When we get the new labels, you can have this one"!!!!!!! I am stoked.

Oh. And today a fellow worker gave me a mudcake from the tasty cake shop across the road with my name on it. I was stoked about that too. I sat at my desk and ate cake and stamped all morning. What a good day.
