boxes make things fun

Yesterday (FRIDAY!!!!) I had two exciting box related episodes.

1. A friend trekked out to the beautiful inner west (crime capital of Sydney) to have lunch with me. I had forgotten by this stage that it was my birthday last week. She, however, hadn't! After lunch (thai followed by the best gelato in the world) she gave me a bag with a box in it. In the box were hot chocolate cups and this Cadbury hot chocolate stuff that's like real chocolate curls and you can put them on ice cream or eat them straight from the tin OR make hot chocolate out of them. So that was exciting.

2. After work I went out with another friend to the movies. At the ticket office there was a fair amount of a chaos as a partial blackout caused the... er... I would call it an indicator board if it were at a station... you know, the thing that says what movies are on... anyway, it was buggered and was saying all sorts of crazy things. Anyway, we eventually bought tickets for some romantic comedy (wasn't in the mood for angst) then set off on a search for dinner. I'm getting to the box bit! Dinner. I had my first ever bento box. Oh the excitement! It's a large box, with all sorts of things in compartments! Compartments make a box even more exciting! Mine had teriyaki chicken, rice, some little baby sushi things, some vegetables, some other sushi things... and maybe something else. And it came with a bowl of miso. I am still not at the point where I can savour the raw fish sushi varieties but I can eat them without gagging. I suppose that counts as progress.

After dinner we went and watched people ice skating in the dark (partial blackout remember) for half an hour. This was quite amusing. I hate ice skating, but watching it gives me hours of entertainment. Teenagers are a whole different species really. Very interesting to watch. Oh, then it was time for the movie.
