My favourite drug (at the moment) is Telfast (fexofenadine). It is a second or third (can't remember which) generation antihistamine. This means that it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier and hence doesn't cause drowsiness. It is available in once daily and twice daily formulations as well as an extra strength one (for hives)and a kids version (and one with pseudoephedrine in it but as pseudoephedrine is my ex-favourite drug we don't talk about that one). This is good because sometimes a one size fits all solution... doesn't. For example, I either use Telfast once or twice daily. They deliver the same dosage over a 24 hour period and a 20 pack of twice daily costs the same amount as 10 once daily tablets. But what if I am not troubled by allergies 24 hours/day? Surely then it is more economical to use the twice daily tablets! An example of this is communion. I am allergic to wine. I can take a twice daily Telfast before communion and have no problems. A once daily tablet would be overkill and a box would only last 10 communion services instead of 20! However at other times it is much more convenient to take a tablet once a day. For example when I'm camping and there are bushfires nearby and lots of pollen.
Summary. I like Telfast because:
* Flexibility in dosage is economically beneficial for me
* It allows me to partake in holy communion without an undignified sneezing fit
* It doesn't cause drowsiness or dopiness
* It doesn't give me a 36 hour hangover (like my least favourite drug which shall not be named - and it's not alcohol although one glass of red wine also has this effect)
