lossbalance The unavoidable process of relearning coping with one's own self, which follows a realisation that self-esteem has become dependent on something transient or otherwise unsteady.

emptyform (1) The shape made by two figures hugging who do not care for one another; (2) The shadow made by that shape; (3) The experience of hugging without emotion; (4) Feigned emotion.
blanchsudden The fleeting expression which crosses a person's face before he or she chooses to say or do the right thing; an infinitesimal indication of true feeling or intention. Particularly easily spotted (and often imagined) by the paranoid and self-absorbed. chancenflash The unexpected, often inspiring recognition of someone with whom one connects on an emotional, philosophical or otherwise airyfairy level. Not to be confused with a hyperwant: the desperate attempt to convince oneself of a nonexistent chancenflash. The best way to tell the difference is that chancenflashes happen to You, whereas hyperwants happen to Me. gentling (1) The act of being with a depressive, often best conducted in near-silence; (2) The small displays of physical affection offered in the process; (3) The careful attempts at supportive and non-judgmental conversation made by one skilled in the art. Not to be confused with needling: a cackhanded attempt at gentling which causes more harm than good. shite The gentle nothings mouthed by those engaging in needling. cutaway fall The experience of falling suddenly into darker depression than one has suspected possible, often generated by an unexpected dose of shite, a bout of needling, or an overinterpreted blanchsudden. brightquiet A house or other place containing tea, quiet and love. Not available on the NHS. Long thought to be merely mythical, though recent reports have reawakened the world's interest.
