Humans and animals come to the same end--humans die, animals die. We all breathe the same air. So there's really no advantage in being human. None. Everything's meaningless. We all end up in the same place--we all came from dust, we all end up as dust. Nobody knows for sure that the human spirit rises to heaven or that the animal spirit sinks into the earth. So I made up my mind that there's nothing better for us men and women than to enjoy our work in whatever we do--that's our lot. Who knows if there's anything else to life? Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 TM
Sadly must report the demise yesterday of Sammy the spaniel, professional welcomer, food-tester and part-time hot water bottle to anyone who's ever stayed in our house. Rosie was upset for a long time and then hyper, which tends to be what happens once one has finished being upset. She ran around trying to get everybody to come and see Sammy in her box. Sammy was interred with middling dignity in a corner of the flowerbed. Sang "All Things Bright And Beautiful" as dusk closed in and the rain began again. Kind of glad Rosie has encountered death in an animal first. It seems to have given her a better idea of the mechanics involved.
