Merry Christmas everyone

Christ has come.

I ran out of time to organise the street party, but we had a bit of an impromptu one yesterday as everyone waited out on the street for Father Christmas to come on the CFA (volunteer fire brigade) truck. It was nice.

Last night we went to the Christmas service. It was beautiful. We sang the stories of Jesus birth, and then moved into a liturgy, which has moments where we remember Jesus death by having a funeral procession with the bread and wine, then the curtains are drawn on Jesus body and blood, until we remember Jesus resurrection and the curtains are flung open, and the bread and wine is brought out into the church for everyone to partake.

We sang Come let us adore him, without any instruments, the voices of the choir at the back of the church and the voices of everyone in attendance really did swell to fill the whole church. I looked up to see the priests and deacons singing with us, O come let us adore him, as they stood before the cross with an icon of Jesus on it.

To hear and see the whole congregation standing before Jesus worshipping him was like a moment in heaven.

Merry Christmas everyone.
