Was Jesus a shrewd evangelical?

This is from Jim Hendersosn at idealab in an article Jesus was Shrewd.

"If making a connection with the people Jesus misses most is just a “nice idea,” then you won't be doing it very long. We try to win them with information, when what moves them is concern, interest and attention.

We need to be the leaders in the art of networking and the economics of attention. We need to explore and develop the field of non-manipulative intentionality. Our mission requires us to “not check our brains at the door.”

I was interested in it because I like the idea of non-manipulative intentionality. I'm becoming a bit suspicious of church programs and courses. I suspect that the only motivation in helping people is so they might become Christians. Does no one care about their community? Does no one want to bring change into all areas of life - social, emotional, mental, as well as spiritual. Isn't everyone someone, and by that I mean not an evangelism target. Aren't people whole people. It gets a bit messy and unorganised when you can't box people into little boxes labelled "to convert" and "converted" but that's when the fun begins - with real realtionships.

Does this mean I'm not an evangelical? I've been intrigued by people's comments that they are evangelical or not evangelical. What does this mean? Why is this so?

Feel free to comment. Say whatever you feel like. I can handle it.
