Culturally relevant church

Today I lay in the sunshine. It feels so good to be warm. Today I marvelled at vividness of the yellow daisies that grow in the middle of the road. Today I went to church! and it felt right to be going, on a sunny Sunday morning. I took the kiddies outside to feel the sunshine and hear the birds and smell the warmth and the eucalypts. We ran with our arms outstretched to feel the breeze. We saw ducks! in the middle of a school yard. I think God sent them for us to laugh at as they waddled along - God and the hope of disgarded school lunches. We watched bright blue sky, and clouds drift by. Then we all, (bar 2) 'needed' to go to the toilet. We thought God painted the sun, and he had to get a ladder to do it, just like Daddy. We thought God made the sun with his words. We sang "Jesus calls to everyone, come follow me" (to 'The farmer in the dell') and we invited people
by name to come and join us, one by one, till every child and every helper and every parent and every grandparent was in our circle. It was great. It was church. It was relevant. I loved it. I felt at home. I hope the kiddies liked it at much as I did.
