The Sara Lee approach to spiritual growth

I received a most wonderful email today from someone in my small group (yay, I'm so excited, I love my small group, I love communion in the dark, chatting around the campfire, praying at the front door) who read this in Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life and learnt it in being in our group. (Yay, I'm so excited, people learn stuff, small group is worth it.)

"Real fellowship is ... experiencing life together. It includes unselfish loving, honest sharing, practical serving, sacrificial giving, sympathetic comforting and all the other "one another" commands found in the New Testament."
I'd add accepting service, gifts and comfort. In Australia at least, we're not very good at receiving help when we need it, or when it is offered, even if we don't need it.

While this list contains stuff lots of us have heard before, it contains some things that take a lifetime to learn. The only way to learn these things is by living them, trying to obey Jesus' words, and learning a little bit more each time we try. These things are learnt layer upon layer upon layer. I'll take comfort it that.
