Day 6 (Day 2 if you're a bit behind like me)

My advent candles are scented. Lavender, Japanese blossom and white heather. The kitchen smelt a bit like toilet air freshener this morning.
We have decided to blow out the candle after the prayer, because I don't think it will last 20 more days if it burns through dinner.

Lighting the hope candle.
In the beginning God made the heavens and the earth and everything in it. And it was very good. But people chose to ignore God and ran after their own selfish goals until there was much darkness in the world. But God did not leave the people in darkness. He gave them words, prophesies, to make know his plans, that the darkness would not reign forever, that a light would come to show the way to God. And so the people waited and waited in hope for the fulfillment of God's good plan.

Mary said to the angel, "I am a virgin, how can this be?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and God's power will rest upon you. For this reason the holy child will be called the Son of God. Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is said that she cannot have children, but she herself is now six months pregnant, even though she is very old. For there is nothing that God cannot do."
Luke 1:34-37 (GNB)

Lord may we wait patiently for you to come. Everyday is part of your plan.

Come Lord Jesus
