Today's advent candle

I was telling someone about my advent candles. She said she usually has advent candles at Christmas time, but this year didn't get around to it. Amazing. I've never heard of advent candles, and someone else 'usually' has them. I now see it is possible that some people may not be as excited about advent candles as I am. Comments like, "And now are we going to light candles for all the saints?" also lead me to this conclusion.

Tonight we thought about all the people who waited for God to fulfill his plan to rescue his people. God gave Isaiah glimpses of the future, prophesies, hope. Isaiah knew God was on the case, but he died before the prophesies were fulfilled. Thousands of people were waiting for God to act, and they died still trusting him, waiting. They were all part of the plan. Isaiah had an important part in the plan, helping to prepare the way for Jesus to come.
We also wait for God, sometimes trusting and waiting and not seeing God act. But we trust that he is working, and that we are part of his plan.

Come Lord Jesus
