I've been avoiding telling you something. So I'll tell you now, and then hopefully God will allow me to go back to blogging about my latest pizza recipe (it's a good one.)
I want to plant a church. Actually, I want to see a whole heap of churches planted in my area.
I've been reading blogs by church planters tonight. They seem to be moving so much faster than me. And I feel a bit like I'm just pretending, or playing dress ups when I read those blogs because "I could never be like that" which I guess is why I've avoiding saying the words.
I've spent two and a half years hanging out in my local area for the express purpose of forming relationships with people who are yet to meet Jesus. I spent 6 months of that time studying and had 12 months off from church. I've attended my local church for the last six months. I've had lots to learn, and some complete 180 degree turns to do.
Since I've just said it then, I'll count the start as from now. Or maybe from August. It's my 30th birthday. Good biblical precedent there for starting a ministry at that age, or for starting a church even.
So there you have it. I want to be part of a kinda neo-monastic missional community who want to plant a church with me.
(Did you note that number 30 up there? I always note ages when people put theirs on their blog. I add it to the mental picture. Then I either feel old, or young. Mostly old though;-)
