Angela's Ashes

Went to bed the night before last at 2.30am after my big clean the house effort. Went to bed at 1. 30am last night after I finished reading Angela's Ashes.

Everyone seems to know the story, but if you don't it's about a poor catholic boy growing up in Ireland during the depression and WWII.

I keep thinking about his neighbours eating their ham and potato dinners while he and his family starved. If I was his neighbour would I have shared my dinner?

How would that child in Ireland would see my house? His whole family slept in two beds. I have two couches and three arm chairs, and a spare bed, and two toilets and a vase of flowers on the bench, and a washing machine, and a television and a lamp in each bedroom and two different places to eat, and pictures on the wall, and a stereo, and a new doona cover and two pillows for myself, and a case of wine, and meat neally everynight, except when I choose not to.

Where are the poor in my neighbourhood? Who are the poor in my neighbourhood? When are my neighbours in need? Are they in need if they have only one couch and no tele? How do I share with others? What do I share with others? Would I even know if my neighbours were hungry?
