Total Fire Ban

After a few days of heat, we've stopped complaining and settled into a different lifestyle. Quick bit of yard work in the early morning, raking leaves, watering gardens, moving slowly. Hibernating all day, then out as the sun goes down to swim, clean out gutters and rake more leaves. Although I did spend quite a bit of time attending to guinea pigs and the worm farm. I bought the G.P's inside in the end. I didn't think they'd live through the day outside.

It's a Total Fire Ban day today. Hot weather and strong winds means a much higher chance of fires, so no fires may be lit, machinery can't be used outside, no BBQ's etc. It also means we have to be alert to the chance of bush fires in our area, and ember attack from other fires. Hence all the raking. Got to get rid of all the dry leaves that blow off the trees in case embers land on them and start a new fire.

Pray for our Volunteer fire fighters. Brigades are called out to fires, call for back up, but other local brigades are already at other fires. They're really stretched today. It's hot and dangerous work. Thank God for our fire fighters putting themselves in harms way to protect people.
