I went to an autumn festival last night. Wrapped up in coat and beanie, we watched a play about how the people called on God, who sent Saint Mich-a-el the archangel to rid them of the dragon. He raised his sword and sparks flew, which the people used to get strength to fight the dragon.
We stood in the dark around the fire as the corrogated cardboard dragon head was burnt. Apparently the meteoric iron in the sky at the moment gives us energy to get through the dark winter(!) The Autumn festival brings us out to meet people, and stop us from shrinking away in the winter.
There was a nice community feel. Everyone was chatting to each other around the fire. All that was missing was good food, and as someone shouted out, "all we need now is the beer."
