Now I'm sick

Too many late nights and now I'm sick. Happens every time. I'll feel better when I've had a lot more sleep. Unfortunately, now that I'm so ordered when it comes to getting up, I wake up at the same time everyday, even after a late night. Prayers requested thanks.

This what are you supposed to wear thing is still getting to me. I'm not going to bother with it all now. Oh, I think that blog entry got deleted. Basically there's people saying you need new clothes for a baptism, and to wear a white gown when they dunk you. I had a brief moment this morning where I thought I wouldn't get baptised, in order to give me a bit more time to find and explain some nice Australian way to get baptised. That whole see-through white gown thing has really worried me my whole life, ever since I saw baptisms as a kid.

I'll wear the gown but I'm not wearing new white clothes.

Orthodoxy is great, it holds the truth, and in Australia, it also holds a lot of ethnic traditions that people did when they were kids in their old country and want to do here. Which is understandable. I always like to have a birthday cake with candles for my birthday. And I'd still like it, even if I had to leave my country and live somewhere else where things were different.
It's going to take a while, like a generation, to work out what are appropriate traditions for Australia. In the meantime, pioneering Aussies have to thresh out what is essential ancient Christianity and what is cultural, what can be allowed to emerge in the way of Australian 'things we do', and what must remain to be true to Christ and his church.

Anyway, it's all made me stressed and sick, and now that I've said all that, I think I may be feeling a bit excited about the whole thing. Pray for me.
