Trav, sorry I forgot to answer. Yes I get dunked three times. I get anointed with oil. I get chrisimated - a cross draw with oil made on my eyes, nose, lips, ears, heart, back, hands and feet, which is all about praying for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I get to act out spitting on the devil and there is an exorcism - it's a beautiful prayer really, not an exorcism like on the television. I say the Nicene Creed, and am asked lots of questions three times each, which I answer three times each. There's something about cutting hair, I don't know anything about that, and I have my first taste of the divine mysteries.
Jack, as for my family, my non-Christian family have said things from "This is the true religion isn't it," "I like the robes and incense" to "Good on you" in the same way you say that to anybody you meet who has made any decision. Christian family I think have a bit of an attitude of, here you go again finding something new, and at least you're going to church again. Talking about a saint's discussion on repentence (it was deep stuff) I was asked whether we ever used the bible. I said "no, it's such an outdated book don't you think" which suited the whole tone of the conversation really.
And having seen what a baptism involves as above, I don't really want family to come to the baptism because, well, it's all a bit weird when you're used to the 'say a testimony and dunk in the water' approach.
