Here s a group of 10 people who decided to give up buying new stuff for 12 months. Only food, essentials such as toothpaste, basic underwear and medicine could be bought new. Everything else had to be traded, borrowed, homemade or second hand.

Could I do it? Last year we pretty much stopped using our credit cards. We were shocked into it by the story of a man with 8 credit cards, racking up an $80 000 debt.
I liked having no credit card. I felt in control. And it placed limits on spending. It made making decisions easier. Have the cash? No. Can't buy it. It simplified life.
Could I not buy stuff for a year?
