We had a pentecost party on Sunday. It was great. No fire fell from the sky, but it was really good to have lunch with good company.
I read recently about a lady who went to a talk on "living pentecost." She went to hear all about spectacular pentecostal spiritual gifts. And instead the speaker spoke about selling everything to share with others. That _is_ a spectacular spiritual gift.
The pentecost prayers, or kneeling prayers were - I can't think of the right word. They are very long, but eventually, kneeling there, head resting on my arms, I started listening, and then praying. It is so good sometimes to have someone else pray the words for you. There were prayers for forgiveness. Praying for forgiveness while on your knees 'fits.' It's a very humbling pose, and strangly liberating, to admit that I need forgiveness, to seek it, and receive it.
