Always read the recipe before you start cooking, that's my advice.

Cooking a Thai recipe tonight. I've often cooked Thai chicken curry type things using paste, and it takes about 20 minutes from scratch, so I thought I'd attempt a beef thingy.
Downloaded recipe which doesn't use paste, but lots of groovy ingredients, so I decide to be adventurous, and buy them and chop them up etc.
Then I have to blend them into a paste, cook them in a pan for 15 minutes, then add the cocnut milk and beef. So far so groovy. Then I notice that you have to simmer for an hour and a half.
I'm hungry. Mrs SteveTom is hungry. We'll be eating late tonight.
Any ideas for killing time? Other than writing this, which I've already done.
