On Friday I wrote an article for the BBC website on hangovers, because they asked me to. I was rather hesitant, because they wanted it to be an amusing piece about why we wake up feeling so bad we swear we'll never touch another drop, and then do it all over again next week.
I like to have a few of pints of strong beer myself now and again, talk rubbish and sway slightly. But I felt distinctly unsure about the idea of writing something that celebrated what HM Gov calls "binge drinking".
However I decided to do it anyhow. I'm not in a position to be turning down freelance work too often, and more to the point I thought I saw a way of doing it with a different "message".
The piece isn't online yet, but it probably is by now. If you see what I mean. I guess you'll find it if you google "Tomkins hangover". If you find a site with a collection of pictures of a short scruffy bloke with bags under his eyes, that's not it.
This was an actual "blog", unusually.
