Thanks to Wibblethrope High Command for my 5 weeks paid paternity leave from WibLog duties.
And Now...
1. Tyler Durden's book of the moment:
The Autograph Man
Annoyingly I was just about to read White Teeth when (a) the TV series appeared, & (b) I came by a free copy of this book, Smith's second. So I'm reading this instead and now I've seen WT on C4, I probly won't read it. Though I might as I like her writing - though now the secondhand book shoops are all cleared out of WT. Bad timing all round.
The annoying thing about WT on TV was all the period music which (a) was a lazy shortcut to recreating the decade in question and (b) turned the programme into a vehicle for a CD which is contemptible.
Haven't actually got anything to say about TAM, except watch out for an excellent review if it in Third Way magazine, that necessity for all thinking Christians with money to waste.
2. Tyler Durden's CD of the moment:
A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay
'The Scientist' is awesome.
3. Tyler Durden's TV of the moment:
The Office. Currently the only programme that justifies having a telly. Taking the excruciating embarrassment of such matchless classics as Fawlty Towers and I'm Alan Partridge to whole new level of pain. Comedy as torture.
4. Tyler Durden's Confession of the moment:
I'm only doing this because I happen for the first time ever to be reading and listening to contemporary things at the same time. I'm very pleased with myself.
