So, there I was...

..trying to register online for one of my credit cards, so I could pay bills online. I'd coped with the fact that they sent me two identical letters with different passwords (seems like I accidentally registered twice), gone through all the dialogues to change my password to something memorable, told them the names of my primary school and both my parents, and got to the final bit where you have to ask a question to which only you will know the answer. So I put in my question and my answer. No dice - just told me I hadn't filled in the question bit. Changing tack, I tried another question. Same result. Eventually, in despair, I rang up again (having rung up once before to solve the two passwords problem). They asked what I was putting in. I explained, and the man said, 'Are you putting in an apostrophe and a question mark?'. I was indeed. 'Ah', he said, that's the problem. Our security programme is very basic, you have to put in your question with no punctuation at all'. So now I get penalized for punctuating properly? What on earth is the world coming to?
