First, agree to talk (unpaid) to an unknown number of depressed people at a location at least an hour's drive from home, on a Tuesday. It is best to have little idea of what you are going to say. When the time comes to begin writing the talk, you will almost certainly find yourself impelled to complete an ever growing number of household tasks that you have been putting off: hanging washing, watering plants, washing up the breakfast dishes - you never know, you may even find yourself cleaning out the kitchen cupboards. The longer you delay the dreadful moment of starting to think about your talk, the more domestic chores you will find you have achieved - chores you would normally do anything to avoid. This method works every time.
