A managed retreat

Well, if you discount going away with no cheque book and having too little cash to pay taxi back as well as taxi there, and my having nightmares in my afternoon sleep, and phone being almost out of juice and almost out of credit, and it being almost impossible to get a signal, and usual taxi firm not being available so I had to use one further away which cost more, and the return train being cancelled so I had to wait on a platform for an extra half hour - oh, and the cold shower because the plumbing wasn't behaving...... it was a good retreat. Actually everything worked out, I paid by card, got the retreat centre to give me cashback, and as I was not in a hurry the missed train just gave me longer to read my novel. The place was gorgeous as usual, even in the rain, I had plenty to read, the shower was at least hot on Saturday morning if not on Sunday, and the food as always was out of this world - and there weren't too many naughty desserts to tempt me, and the one naughty dessert there was, was pavlova, which is my ultimate favourite, and the meringue was absolutely melting and there was enough cream.

Unspiritual, moi?

Sadly since I returned things have gone wrong all over the place - mainly, my not getting to sleep till 4.00 am last night (or this morning), and not being able to find the sleeping tablets which I absolutely know that The Grouch picked up last week. And then Genius Brat feeling ill and staying home from school, which meant I had to miss the Behaviour Management workshop I was booked to go on this morning. Oh well, I would have been too tired to take advantage of it anyway...
