In the red centre

It was drizzling as we left Alice Springs. Though they have had some rain most of the river beds and creeks are dry and red. We travelled long straight and mostly empty roads to the resort neat Uluru . Stopped for lunch at a roadside cafe where I had two bites of a greasy and suspiciously meaty spring roll and a delicious Lamington.

20120318-064359.jpg The resort here is similar to Center Parcs in that the hotels, cafes, shops etc are all interlinked so you can charge anything to your room. As soon as we got here I was in the pool! We also got a prepaid Internet card but the connectivity is erratic. We had an evening trip to see Uluru at sunset and take a million photos. We can see the rock from our room, so didn't bother to get up at 5 and join a group to see the rock at sunrise. Was spectacular enough from here - I woke at 6 so got out on the balcony with my camera . And praise be my tablet is connecting. As I was waiting for it to connect an enormous centipede went under the door. At least it was leaving not entering!
